MDV are a specialist coating company situated near Frankfurt, Germany. They
have two coating machines, coating materials up to 2.25 metres wide.
MDV produce a wide variety of products for specialist markets. These include
Robuskin® synthetic paper which is suitable for most Variable Information Printing
(VIP) applications.
MDV’s Jetprint® range of papers and films have been developed for the wide format
and plotter reel markets. There are products for the latest low solvent inks
and also dye based and pigmented ink systems. Their range covers indoor and outdoor
products, self-adhesive and photo base papers.
Included in their Jetprint range is Tyvek from Dupont which MDV convert with
a variety of finishes e.g. Matt, Gloss and Fluorescent and is suitable for the
mild solvent, (Ecosol) dye based and pigmented ink systems.
Robuskin® Synthetic Paper has been especially developed to be printed like ordinary paper
in either sheets or reels using the following processes, Offset, Letterpress,
Flexo, Gravure and Silk Screen. It is also highly suitable for VIP (Variable
Information printing) processes such as thermal transfer and laser (dependent
on substrate). Usual paper and board inks can be used unlike some other synthetic
materials. End uses include posters, banners, street maps, sea-charts, menus,
maintenance manuals, etc. MDV also have facilities to slit narrow width reels
suitable for tag and label printers. With its high stiffness (dependent on substrate),
tear resistance and overall strength properties, this makes Robuskin® ideal for the tag industry.
Robuskin has recently expanded into the laser toner markets and is now available from
mill stock in SRA3 (320 x 450mm) from 50mics-250mics. Robuskin PET is being widely used on Xerox IGen3 machines and also on Kodak Nexpress.. This
is a significant development for MDV with very few synthetic materials printing
successfully on laser toner presses.
